A Trip to Bergamo

I rarely wear monochromatic or tonal looks.

That said, I am quite fond of an all black or close to an all black outfit.

A Trip to Lugano with Myrqvist

Lugano has always been high on our list of places to visit. It is a charming city in southern Switzerland, where the influence of Italian culture is evident in its architecture, cuisine, and language. It offers a relaxed Mediterranean ambiance with a rich blend of Swiss and Italian traditions.

I thought it was the perfect opportunity to bring the Funäs from Myrqvist along for some on-location photos. For the outfit I went with a mostly neutral outfit with some hints of brown.
The objective of the outfit was also to make sure I was warm and comfortable (despite Milan actually being colder)

Orient Watches

Despite this post being an ad, Orient is a brand that has been part of my life for a while. Back when I was living in Asia (late 2000), when it was time for me to get a proper watch, Orient was high on my personal list. It wasn’t a brand everyone knew, and that was exactly what I wanted. I didn’t want a watch that everyone had, but I still wanted something that fellow watch lovers could appreciate.

Chasing Seasons

It’s funny how we always seem to want what we don’t have.

Myrqvist : Boot Season

*There are a lot of variables that make a shoe comfortable. Not everyone has the same feet and not all the lasts and styles will work for everyone. When in doubt I always recommend getting in touch with the brand. This is my review and experience with both the Funäs and Duved II boot.

As the weather cools, the boots come out. Leave it to the swedes from Myrqvist to sort it out. These will be my first impressions of their Funäs and Duved II boots from their collection. The Funäs is leading the charge in their boot campaign but an updated Duved II is also definitely worth a look.

Both the Funäs and Duved II are cemented constructed boots. Both boots are on Last 12 and are made in Portugal.

Hockerty

* The collaboration terms were only for content on Instagram. I was not obliged or required to create this or any future write-ups.

I recently collaborated with Hockerty (@hockerty_official) and I thought this was a perfect opportunity to showcase the whole ordering process. I was tasked with creating a summer outfit that showcased colour. I ordered a shirt, a pair of trousers and a safari jacket.

For those of you unfamiliar with Hockerty, they are an e-commerce brand that offers a made to measure service for clothing, accessories and footwear. Their clothing is made in China while the shoes are crafted in Spain.

First Impressions : Crush on Retro

 * Full disclosure, I was offered the sneakers for free but the rest I purchased myself.

In my previous post I talked about the ordering process with Crush on Retro and I had the opportunity to interview Bryce Zhang. (http://www.carlovdbroeck.com/2024/08/crush.html)

Review: Myrqvist Brannö 2

*There are a lot of variables that make a shoe comfortable. Not everyone has the same feet and not all the lasts and styles will work for everyone. When in doubt I always recommend getting in touch with the brand. This is my review and experience with Myrqvist Brannö 2.

Since taking a stroll in Peschiera del Garda IN THE MYRQVIST BRANNÖ 2 , they have slowly become a favourite to wear. I thought it was about time to write a review.

Crush on Retro

* Full disclosure, I contacted Crush on Retro first and have kept in touch since June while I was trying to figure out my first order. I was offered the sneakers for free but the rest I purchased myself.
Stay tuned for my first impressions of what I ordered.

There is no question that there are a lot of good artisans, manufacturers, producers in China but the issue has always been the language barrier and finding the right seller. Crush on Retro (@crushonretro) is an E-commerce site focused on vintage inspired menswear. The company was founded in 2021 is located in Hangzho, Zhejian province in China. They deal directly with factories and suppliers.

I actually discovered Crush on Retro during my May holiday in Seoul South Korea. This time the other Korean Tailor (@salvatore.tailor) was wearing a nice western denim shirt he purchased from Aliexpress. I had to login in to the Korean version to see all the clothing options that were available. When I found the seller, they unfortunately didn’t offer shipping to Italy. I did however manage to find their direct website with their curated collection and they also directly offered shipping overseas including to Europe.

Review: Carnation on the lapel (카네이션온더라펠), Seoul

I discovered Carnation on the Lapel 카네이션온더라펠 (@carnation.on.the.lapelwhile studying tailoring in Milan, where I met several Korean tailors. One tailor, in particular, caught my attention with his one piece collar shirt and an intriguing thimble.(which I'll discuss another time).

I became good friends with Lee Dong Hoon (@danilo.tailor) and Lee Sang Eun (@salvatore.tailor). Though they eventually returned to Korea, they encouraged me to visit them if I ever traveled there. When a trip to Korea and Japan was planned a few months later, I asked them to arrange an appointment with Carnation on the Lapel.

A stroll in the Myrqvist Brannö 2

I’m pleased to share that I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Myrqvist (@myrqvist). For those who may not know, Myrqvist is a Swedish shoe brand committed to creating timeless footwear at an accessible price point. Their shoes are primarily Goodyear welted and made in Portugal. They currently have a store in Stockholm and are set to open a new location on Jermyn Street in London, a prominent destination for menswear and accessories.

Review: Cappellificio Biellese 1935 MTM

Being a member of the sartorial club (@the_sartorial_club) comes with a number of perks.
One of these perks is getting to collaborate with different brands during Pitti Uomo.

this edition of Pitti Uomo, I was lucky enough to collaborate with Cappellificio Biellese (@capellificiobiellese).
