*There are a lot of variables that make a shoe comfortable. Not everyone has the same feet and not all the lasts and styles will work for everyone. When in doubt I always recommend getting in touch with the brand. This is my review and experience with Myrqvist Brannö 2.
Since taking a stroll in Peschiera del Garda IN THE MYRQVIST BRANNÖ 2 , they have slowly become a favourite to wear. I thought it was about time to write a review.
The Brannö II is handmade in Portugal, comes unlined with a rubber sole. Myrqvist also decided to use leather piping for their darker models and I think it compliments the shoe nicely. The finishing of the shoe is clean on the inside and outside. there are no loose threads, obvious
glue marks or marks on the suede. The suede also has a nice short nap and feels high quality. The suede they use comes from Tannery Mastrotto here in Italy. Mastrotto actually used to be my leather supplier back in the day when I made bags . I am very familiar with the high quality and nap of their suede given I used to use their suede to line the inside of my bags.
My issue with shoes is that my left foot is narrow and long and my right foot is shorter but wider. (Yes, no two feet are the same and working in retail selling dress shoes for 2 years, I only encountered one customer that had the same width and length for both feet.) This usually means I need to compromise my right foot and go for a size that's smaller to accommodate my left foot. This usually means a few weeks of pain and discomfort sometimes even putting the right shoe on the stretcher.
The Brannö 2 on first wear did not have this issue given it is unlined. The shoes moulded quickly to the shape of my feet and only needed a very short time to break in. Myrqvist's new rubber sole is incredibly comfortable. For the lack of better words, it feels bouncy and airy at the same time, almost like walking on a cloud. With new shoes the top line at the heel can sometimes give me discomfort and even cut me. I am happy to report that this is not the case with this pair.
As for the final verdict...
This pair is currently near the front door and my current go-to if I need to run errands all day.
