Being a member of the sartorial club (@the_sartorial_club) comes with a number of perks.
One of these perks is getting to collaborate with different brands during Pitti Uomo.
this edition of Pitti Uomo, I was lucky enough to collaborate with Cappellificio Biellese (@capellificiobiellese).
For those of you unfamiliar with CB1935, here is a direct quote from their website.
Cappellificio Biellese 1935 is a hat maker born almost 100 years ago in the Cervo Valley, near Biella. His has always been a story of ups and downs, however, in 2018 it was bought by a group of young entrepreneurs under 40 who, despite the difficulties, are relaunching the brand around the world.Today CB1935 produces hats using haute de gamme sartorial fabrics such as cashmere, flannel, vicuna, alpaca, linen and silk.
the main objective of the collaboration was to show off how their made to measure service worked. I was allowed to choose from a number of items and opted for a baseball cap.
The process of choosing the fabrics and options is quite easy and straightforward.
its so easy that this process is even doable on a mobile device.
I went with a cap made from a Tallia Delfino Hopsack.
The hat feels substantial for a baseball cap. The visor feels stiff and flexible at the same time. stitching is neat and tidy, no loose threads or risks of fabrics fraying.
I might also be slightly biased but as a tailor, having a hat made from fabric that's used to make suits and jackets is just a bonus and really leans in to the more artisanal approach of making a baseball hat.
below are some of my other impressions of the hat.
The hat arrived with a dustbag |
I really hope the texture comes across through the screen. Nice clean stitching around the visor. |
The herringbone lining is neatly stitched. |
clean embroidered initials on the inside |
Clean elastic adjustment on the back just in case your size varies during the day
One of my favourite things to do is check under the lining. If even things out of sight are neat and clean, then you can expect everything visible to be the same. |
The hat has gotten a lot of wear lately given how versatile it is.
for those of you not on instagram, I've included photos from different outfits that I personally think work quite well with the cap.
