Hi everyone! I recently checked out Trip Advisor for must visit places in London and the London zoo was on the list. I have always been fascinated by animals since childhood so I thought to give it a go.
The London Zoo is the worlds oldest scientific zoo. it was opened on the 27th of April in 1828. I was initially closed to the public until 1847.
The London Zoo has also been used in big movies including a scene in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone where Harry talks to the Burmese Python and in the 1981 movie American Werewolf in London.
I decided to visit the zoo on a weekday to avoid the crowd. There were a few tourists and school excursions but it wasn't too bad. the zoo separates its animals by origin (eg. "into Africa") or by the kind of animal (eg. "BUGS" and "Reptile House" ) some fan favourites like the Penguins and Tigers get their own named section. Some of the areas are climate controlled and can be warmer than the temperatures outside. It's a good idea to wear layers you can easily remove in case it gets a bit too hot for comfort. The zoo also has a young child friendly section where you can get up close to meet and pet some of the animals. If you do plan on visiting the zoo, I suggest checking out their website to plan your day and to check the daily live shows and the schedules.
Since there was going to be a lit of walking, i decided to wear something a bit more casual and comfortable. Some of you guys might remember my Bomber jacket from my previous post Bomber Jacket Monday where i wore it with a dress shirt and a tie. This time I decided to dress it down for the outing and the weather. the forecast said it would be sunny with light winds so I wanted to be prepared. I wore my Bomber Jacket with a Uniqlo Maroon stripe sweater, HE by Mango Henley and my distressed Uniqlo Jeans. I also wore my New Balance 996 which are perfect for long walks.
Instead of posting mostly outfit photos, I hope you enjoy my attempts at wildlife photography.
Update: If you want to see more wildlife photos, check out Day at the Zoo part 2
