The Chesterfield Coat is a classic overcoat invented in the mid-19 Century named after the Earl of Chesterfield. The Chesterfield is considered by most gentleman as an essential part of their wardrobe.
The coat is available both single breasted and double breasted in a variety of colours.
People usually wear a Chesterfield in charcoal gray or navy and overlook camel.
A camel coloured coat is surprisingly versatile. When you wear a gray or navy suit, you don't have to worry about the coat matching the pants. A camel coat also goes well with a pair of dark wash or stone washed jeans. Make sure to pick one up if you already have grey and blue covered!
For this outfit I wanted to wear my J.Crew Chesterfield with jeans. I opted for a shawl cardigan for extra layering and some neck protection from the spring wind. For a bit of colour and contrast I wore a red and blue striped silk tie and my tan cap toe Allen Edmonds.
