Christys' London was my first introduction to English made hats.
As you can imagine I was over the moon when Christys' London offered to sponsor a hat to cover my head during Pitti Uomo 92. They were kind enough to send over the Notting Hill French Navy Snap brim Panama Hat.
The hat is handwoven in Equador and blocked in the Christys' London factory in the UK.
The hat has been blocked to a tear drop shape crown approximately 12cm (around 4.6 inches) in height. it comes with a 8cm (3 inches) brim that snaps down for extra sum protection for the eyes and of course panache. It is fitted with a fabric sweat band and a 3cm (1 inch) navy ribbon. Christys' has also opted to include a red feather with yellow detail for that extra touch. the edges of the brim are finished with navy fabric binding.

The hat perfectly met my needs for a summer hat that was not as formal as a white Panama hat or as plain as a natural coloured straw hat. I especially loved the fact that the hat has perforations for extra ventilation which was perfect for the 32-35 Degree Celsius weather predicted for Pitti Uomo.
The hat worked perfectly for my day 2 outfit.
The French Navy of the hat harmonised with the blue in the pocket square, braces, and slippers.
the little feather had hints of red and yellow which also matched the pocket square and bag.
