It has been quite an experience so far living in the beautiful city of Florence. The weather and food is better than what I am used to in London and the markets are always worth a visit.

I have come to Florence to pursue my dream of becoming an artisan specialising in leather goods (The fact that I am here during Pitti Uomo doesn’t hurt either, hehe). I am excited and slightly nervous to finally unveil one of my prototypes. The bag is completely made by hand except for the machine stitching.

I have always liked texture, contrast, and functionality in menswear. This has carried over to my prototype as well. I’ve gone for a suede and calf skin combination. I have opted to do the top of the bag in calfskin along with the handles. These parts should darken and develop their own patina over time. The calfskin is also a bit more resilient when it comes to scuffs and scratches from wear.

For the bottom part of the bag I’ve decided to wax the suede. I got my inspiration from my Crockett and Jones roughed-out suede chelsea boots. This weatherproofs the bottom of the bag and makes it easy for the user to reapply the wax when needed. The waxed suede will also develop its own character as the leather gets scuffed and scratched.

I previously wore the same trousers for last year's Farfetch Blog post. The trousers were matched with a navy Fresco wool sportcoat and my dark brown Cordovan loafers. Despite the colour and and pattern, I find the trousers quite versatile.
The Farfetch outfit with the same red linen trousers.
This time I wanted to try something different and go for something a bit more casual.

Due to the boldness of the trousers, I opted to keep things simple with a white polo layered with a brown linen bomber jacket. The brown linen jacket effectively dresses down the outfit even if  I decided to wear a dress shirt. Due to the outfit being quite bright, I went with Whiskey Cordovan loafers. Given the motif of Cordovan, I wore my watch with a dark brown cordovan strap I made a few months back.
